"The opera ain't over 'till the fat lady sings..."
SYNOPSIS
La Celestina [Mrs. M.] – famous Australian opera diva, now retired – is running a club frequented mostly by theatricals, called The Butterfly Club, after her favourite opera Madame Butterfly. Her son and daughter-in-law, both singers, were killed tragically – leaving her to raise their son, Enrico, named after the famous Enrico Caruso, whom she hopes will carry on the family tradition. Enrico however, has other ideas. He dreams of being a pop singer and behind La Celestina’s back, has auditioned for the “Pop Idol” television competition. A bittersweet clash of wills ensues with dramatic consequence…
HISTORY
The world premiere season of Five Minute Call, was produced by Fly-On-The-Wall Theatre at The Butterfly Club, South Melbourne from 14 November - 07 December, 2004. It was directed by Robert Chuter and co-ordinated by Grant Sciciuna featuring Marie-Therese Byrne as La Celestina, Matthew Robinson as Enrico, Christopher Pender as Dave and Paul O'Brien as Tim Sims.

PERFORMANCE RIGHTS
Five Minute Call is a site-specific light-hearted comedy with music and songs. It comprises nine scenes within four different areas/rooms. Two small groups of audience [approximately 25 people] rotate through each scene.
